Dick Campbell has been sacked as manager of East Fife, a decision confirmed by the club's board of directors on Wednesday. The former Ross County boss departs after two-and-a-half years in charge at Bayview, with the club's exit from the KDM Evolution Trophy on Tuesday cited as a financial blow.

East Fife announced the move in a statement, which read: "Dick Campbell has left his position as manager of East Fife FC after two-and-a-half years in charge at Bayview." The board thanked Campbell and his management team, which included his brother Ian Campbell, Stuart Malcolm and John Young, for their commitment and achievements, wishing them well for the future. An interim group consisting of goalkeeping coach Jim Moffat and senior players Pat Slattery and Brian Easton will take temporary charge.

Campbell’s East Fife tenure

Campbell was appointed in 2024 and led the club to promotion to League One via the play-offs in May 2025. That success, however, has been followed by a sharp decline in form. East Fife have won just one of their first ten league games this season and have only three league victories in all of 2026. The board noted that results since promotion have seen the team struggle, despite significant investment in the playing squad over the past two seasons.

Ross County connection

Campbell's departure holds a specific note for Ross County supporters. He was appointed manager of the Staggies in May 2007 and also played for the club in the Highland League between 1975 and 1977. Last month, his East Fife side held Ross County to a 2-2 draw, the only match this season where County have dropped points in League One. That result means East Fife are the only team in the division Ross County have not beaten this campaign.

This contrasts starkly with Ross County's current form. The Staggies sit first in League One with 25 points from nine games, having won eight and drawn one. Their recent form reads five consecutive wins, including a 2-1 victory over Forfar Athletic last Saturday.

The interim team at East Fife will now prepare the squad for their next League One fixture. Ross County, meanwhile, turn their focus to an away match against Queen of the South this Saturday, where they will aim to extend their winning run. The full schedule is available on our fixtures list.
