Ross County began their League One campaign with a narrow but significant victory over Peterhead. The match at Balmoor Stadium was tightly contested and saw Brian Graham’s second-half goal prove decisive for the Staggies.
The first half of the game was relatively quiet, with both teams failing to create clear-cut opportunities. Niall McGinn came closest for Peterhead, sending a half-volley narrowly over the crossbar in the process. For Ross County, Brian Graham had two chances that were thwarted by Peterhead’s goalkeeper Dylan Forrest and then saved by Jack Newman.
Lewis Strapp nearly broke the deadlock just before halftime with a shot that was well handled by Newman. The second half saw Ross County start more strongly, with Graham having an effort hooked off the line shortly after the restart. It was Graham who eventually made the breakthrough in the 65th minute, scoring the only goal of the match.
The victory marks a solid start for Ross County as they look to build on this result and secure further success in the upcoming season.
