Ross County is free to press ahead with a co-operation agreement with Invergordon after the Scottish FA and SPFL confirmed a rule change.

What happened?

The rule change allows League One clubs to be the parent clubs in co-operation agreements, paving the way for Ross County to maintain a strong relationship with Invergordon.

The two clubs faced off against each other in the newly-revamped Ali MacGregor Park last weekend, with Stuart Kettlewell commenting that a close relationship between the sides should benefit everyone involved.

Why it matters for Ross County

The co-operation agreement will provide Ross County's young players with more opportunities to gain senior football experience. Stuart Kettlewell cited Lewis Mackay as an example, who impressed last year and would have played for Ross County but instead got minutes with Invergordon.

What comes next?

Ross County will exercise the opportunity to send players to Invergordon to gain minutes and develop their skills. The Staggies are currently 10th in the Championship, with 34 points from 36 games, and recently lost their last two matches.
